Senior Programs

Dedicated to enriching the lives of the people we serve, The Salvation Army of Greater Houston's programs and services enable us to truly make a difference every day.  No place is that mission more apparent than in our work with our elderly clients.  With dignity and pride, our Corps/Community Centers provide a social life for seniors, our two 63-unit residential complexes provide them a place to call home, and our staff and volunteers provide them the respect they deserve.

Be it in the privacy of their own homes, at one of our six Corps/Community Centers, or at one of our two independent-living, residential apartment-buildings for senior citizens, the elderly in our community have found a safe haven at The Salvation Army.  Programs that deliver meals and friendly smiles offer solace to the homebound; those who are able to mobilize find a place of camaraderie and activity at our Corps/Community Centers, where they are also provided daily breakfast and lunch meals; those who are on a low income and need an affordable place to live, have made our William Booth and Evangeline Booth Garden Apartments true communities.  These residential living units charge rent on an income-based scaling system and afford our elderly the independence and dignity they deserve.
