Houston Area Command

 

Special Events Manager– FT

Primary Functions:  Creates strategies to increase identified and potential donor support through event specific venues; for such events or programs, plans, supervises, manages and monitors the day-to-day operations, staff and volunteers of special events, i.e., the Annual Luncheon and other major donor functions targeted at reinforcing the William Booth Society, as well as other special events; provides hands on leadership to all development departments; plans, coordinates, and organizes the flow of information, manpower, material and other resources; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures; prepares statistical reports as it relates to special events; works in close partnership with Director of Development to enhance donor relationships and increase donor support through implementation of all aspects of the Raising More Money model (Behind the Red Shield Tours and Ask Events); also works with other management staff, community agencies, corporations and the Greater Houston Area Command corps officers.

Volunteer Coordinator– FT

Primary Functions:  Supervises volunteer initiatives and workers within the Greater Houston Area Command; establishes and provides direction, coordination and consultation for all volunteer functions within the organization; helps manage resources and strengthen programs of The Salvation Army and its relationship with the community and supporters; manages partnerships with civic, religious and corporate groups for the purpose of volunteer recruitment and 3rd Party events/donation drives.

Secretary II– FT

Primary Functions:  Relieves the Women’s Activities Coordinator of the administrative detail associated with various department programs and seasonal projects; plans, coordinates, and follows through on program details from start to finish; assists in setting up Advisory Board meetings; performs public speaking in the community and in schools to promote awareness of the Women’s Department programs; works in close partnership with community agencies, corporations, and Houston Area Command Corps Officers; coordinates information and arrangements for the meetings and seminars for the Women’s Auxiliary.

Evangeline Booth Garden Apartments

 

Housekeeper-Maintenance Assistance– FT

Primary Functions: Performs daily cleaning and ensures upkeep of the building common areas, offices, restrooms and laundry; cleans vacant apartments for future move in; assists maintenance engineer as needed with changing lights, a/c filters, touch up painting, and lifting; reports problems to the maintenance engineer so that they may be addressed with the Director.

 Family Residence

 

Cook - FT

Primary Functions:  Prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules.  Ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner.  Cleans kitchen facilities, equipment and appliances.  Maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner.

Housing Monitor – FT

Primary Functions:  Assists residents staying in the Family Residence overnight; performs client intake procedures and prepares client intake records; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that facility is maintained in a neat and proper order.

Custodian – PT (2 positions)

Primary Functions:  Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.

Lead Child Care Worker – PT

Primary Functions:  Assists and supervises children and infants in a church nursery environment; oversees and schedules other Child Care employees; leads applicable programs and reports statistics to administration.

Groundskeeper – PT

Primary Functions:  Performs a variety of grounds keeping work in order to maintain the health and beautification of grounds surrounding Salvation Army buildings; mows and edges grass, trims trees/shrubs, blows leaves and debris from sidewalks.
