The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center, Corps and Red Shield Lodge
The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center and Red Shield Lodge provides a comprehensive response to the increasing needs of Houston's homeless and addicted men. Each individual is offered access to immediate and long-term shelter, medical screening and referral, and a spiritual approach to recovery and self-sufficiency.
The Harbor Light Center is the long-term drug and alcohol recovery program. Over 200 beds are available to homeless men who decide to form part of the program. Center Intake: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30 - 7 a.m.
The Red Shield Lodge is the Harbor Light Center’s emergency shelter and addresses immediate needs of meals, hygiene items and a safe place to sleep. 136 beds are available through the Red Shield Lodge. Lodge Intake: Monday - Sunday, 2:30 - 7:30 p.m.
The Harbor Light Center first opened its doors back in 1949 and relocated to its current location on North Main Street in 1973.

The Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir is comprised of current and former substance abuse program participants who have demonstrated success and initiative toward their recovery.
The men make a one-year commitment to perform at various venues with the Choir as part of their work therapy. Their songs ignite hope, faith and love in the hearts of everyone that listens to their performances.
