On Saturday, December 8, 2012, Shayne Graham the Houston Texans kicker will join The Salvation Army and Walmart for a special toy drive at the Walmart located at 10750 Westview Dr. in Houston.  Graham's participation is part of Walmart's national "Fill the Truck" effort, which seeks to help local Salvation Army communities across the country to collect enough toys for their respective Angel Tree Christmas assistance programs.  In the Greater Houston region some 30,000 local children and seniors have registered to receive Christmas gifts from The Salvation Army by Christmas Day.

The event is open to the general public who would like to donate new toys to children who take part in The Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree program. As they enter the store, Walmart shoppers will receive a list of suggested gifts to help fill The Salvation Army’s collection bin. Once it is full, The Salvation Army will bring the donations to its Secret Santa Warehouse where the nonprofit will sort and package the gifts for distribution in the local region before Christmas Day.  Participating Walmart stores in the Greater Houston region include:

#400 @ 1407 N. Loop 336 W. in Conroe
#3213 @ 3040 College Park Dr. in The Woodlands
#2066 @ 2727 Dunvale

#1409 @ 10750 Westview Dr.
#3226 @ 25108 Market Place Dr. in Katy
#5959 @ 111 Yale
#752 @ 5200 Fairmont Pkwy. in Pasadena
#5045 @ 22605 State Highway 249 in Tomball

Walmart and The Salvation Army have partnered together for more than 30 years to help support people in need. This year, Walmart and Sam’s Club will once again host Salvation Army red kettles in front of their stores as part of The Salvation Army’s 123rd Annual Red Kettle Campaign between November 23rd and December 24th. In 2011, Walmart and Sam’s Club helped The Salvation Army raise $1,436,218.00 locally, and more than $46 million nationally—nearly one-third of the record $147.6 million raised. All donations made to the red kettles and “Fill the Truck” events in the Greater Houston region will remain in the local community and help The Salvation Army provide food, clothing, shelter, financial assistance and other services to 110,000 people annually..
